The QYSEA FIFISH V6 Expert has been on our wish list as a Professional Underwater Drone since it was announced. We have been going over the pros and cons of each of the drone companies and their models of drones. QYSEA FIFISH has taken the lead in what we are looking for in a beginner level drone for some of our shallow video work. The camera and lights are just above the level of the QYSEA FIFISH V6 Plus – Professional Underwater Drone. We will be updating this post as we do more research. Deep Trekker also has a quality made drone. The Deep Trekker DTG3 ROV has been another underwater drone on our short list, with the Pivot NAV not far off.

We are shopping for an underwater drone that is stable in heavy current. The Gulf Stream is very close to shore in Palm Beach County. This creates heavy currents when we are diving and recording video on the local coral reefs, artificial reefs, and shipwrecks. The camera must be able to reach depths of up to 300 feet and the lights must be bright enough and wide enough to illuminate from a few meters.

Underwater navigational positioning is also a feature that we would like to have. Using video and photogrammetry and GPS positioning is helpful when creating our seafloor mapping.
