Traditional Bow vs. X-bow in Extreme Wave Cases

Side by side comparison of the motions of a traditional bow vs. an X-bow in extreme wave cases. This testing was part of an independent study undertaken by a group of students in addition to their senior capstone design course. Note the excess water (also known as "green water" or "shipping water") on the deck of the traditional bow ship. This could lead to instability, dangerous work conditions, damage to the hull and/or cargo and even lead to swamping of the vessel.
