Regarding braided fishing line, our favorite is PowerPro. For kids fishing for inshore fish, the highest pound test line you should need in most cases in 10lb test line. In most cases, use 15lb to 30lb leader line. For kids, you really only need monofilmanent (not fluorocarbon leader).
