Diving Robot Finds $22 Billion In Sunken Gold

The biggest sunken treasure in history has finally been discovered off the coast of California. A diving team was using an unmanned deep sea sumbersible, when they uncovered over $22 billion US dollars worth of gold!

The 300-year-old mystery of the San Jose sunken treasure has finally been solved. The famous ship was sunk by the British Navy in 1708, but now we know the whole story. The San Jose Spanish galleon was thought to be lost forever, but the shipwreck was discovered off the coast of Cartagena, Colombia in 2015 thanks to a state-of-the-art robotic submarine. The Remus 6000 autonomous underwater vehicle, or AUV, discovered the shipwreck and the $22 billion sunken treasure about 1,000 feet underwater. The AUV managed to spot the shipwreck thanks to a high-tech sonar location system and detailed underwater pictures. Researchers knew they had made a once in a lifetime discovery when the Remus 6000 snapped pictures of bronze cannons adorned with dolphins. These cannons were a signature of the San Jose galleon. The San Jose sunken treasure is the most valuable underwater find of all time, but there is a great debate raging behind the scenes. Who gets to keep all that loot? The treasure still remains underwater, and there is still a lot of red tape to cut through before it can be salvaged. Does the treasure belong to Colombia, Spain, or the USA. The treasure was reportedly discovered once before by a group of American explorers, but the Colombian government says the original find in 1981 was not actually the San Jose shipwreck at all. Keep watching to find out how the San Jose sank over 300 years and how this famous ship was finally discovered.
